I have to go to work soon, so I cannot wax poetic for very long, but there is a CFL game tonight and I can tell you that if I were north of the border I would be home watching it on TSN. It's a key Eastern matchup between Les Alouettes and the Blue Bombers, who met last week to less that positive results for Montreal. The winner of this game is guaranteed a playoff spot if Edmonton loses to the Roughriders, which is a pretty likely result considering that Edmonton are having a full stage freakout right now and Saskatchewan are absolutely badass (5-2) at home.
The big story in the City of Saints right now is "Anthony Calvillo: Whaaa?" and frankly, I wish I could tell you. After a stunning opening 7 games of the season wherein it looked like the Grey Cup would find its home at Percival Molson for a year, Calvillo and Les Als have stopped scoring points. Many observers are pointing to Calvillo's playcalling- it is rare for a CFL quarterback to call his own plays and perhaps it should stay that way. Or maybe some non Ben Cahoon receivers should do something for him.
To make matters worse for Montreal, it's in Winnipeg, although this season the Bombers have had no such home field advantage and earlier this season we beat them there by 28, although that was when we won football games. Bombers wideout Milt Stegall is still trying to get to 137 TDs to become the CFL record holder, and the Bombers' pass defence is the second best in the CFL- certainly not what Calvillo needs to get his confidence back.
