FC End Of The Year Survey

Ed note: We wanted everyone to participate, but Jon was too busy doing his 8 other entries for the day and Kevin barely even thinks he's with the blog at this point. Enjoy what we have.

Did something happen in sports this year that you thought would never happen?
A: The Hartford Whalers won the Stanley Cup!
C: The Braves didn't win the NL East. The Texans beat the Colts.
W: This wasn't really something that I thought would never happen considering the Steelers have a decent shot most years, but one of my teams won a major championship.

What was the best game you attended?

C: This game. Carlos Beltran's catch that he injured himself going back on was the most amazing play I've ever seen in person.
A: HABS at Bruins This statement alone probably explains why: Andrei Markov scored the tiebreaking goal with 1.2 seconds left Thursday night, giving Montreal a 3-2 victory over Boston and prompting a shower of garbage from Bruins fans that convinced officials to call the game with two ticks left. The harassment I received that day was pretty awesome.
W: May 27 - Pirates 8, Astros 7. 18 innings. Three lead changes in the front nine. Jason Bay homering for the fifth consecutive game. A pinch-hit, game-tying homer in the bottom of the 8th. Bay pulling a Morgan Ensberg home run back. Jack Wilson's impossible throw. Five effective innings by, of all people, ol' White Flag himself. Another game-tying solo shot leading off the bottom of the 17th after the Astros had nicked a one-run lead. A wild pitch on an intentional walk. Multiple collisions at the plate, including the game-winning play in the 18th.

Jason Bay steamrolls Eric Munson to finally end this epic contest.

What was the biggest disappointment in sports for you in 2006?

B: Bulls first round playoff loss. Either that or the Chicago Cubs in general, but they're always pretty disappointing
W: The dismal performance by the NFL's defending champs, summed up in greater detail here. Spurs eating some funny lasagna the night before they could have forced their way into the Champions League for the first time ever is up there, too.
A:Zinedine.
C: Yao and Tracy McGrady's inability to stay healthy. It's ruined what on paper could easily be a championship caliber squad.

If you could take back any decision that any of your teams made in 2006, what would it be?

W: I'd say Kevin McClatchy not firing Dave Littlefield, but that could have happened any time during the past five years.
A: Letting Florent Sinama-Pongolle leave again.
C: Not trading down in the NFL draft when it was clear that one player would not fix the Texans.
B: Jason Marquis :-X

Got any predictions for 2007 that you think people would be quick to dismiss?

C: The Arizona Diamondbacks will be the second best team in the National League next year.
W: Tyler Palko gets a chance to play in the NFL and draws positive comparisons to Drew Brees. The Pirates' young arms are consistent enough that the team remains in contention in a weak NL Central for most of the season. They're more "hopes" than predictions but whatever works.
A: The Alouettes might actually WIN a Grey Cup as opposed to making it there and blowing it.

How many stupid "New Year's Resolutions" columns do you think will be written from December 24th-January 1st?

A: 1. They were all written years ago and new names are just plugged in.
C: 839
W: I don't care as long as I don't have to read the one Bill Simmons writes.

I filled my part out but didn't know how to add it, and you and I were never online at the same time.

The A's made it past the first round. Finally. No joke.

That game. We (Northeastern), the heavy underdog, led BC throughout much of the game, but found ourselves down 3-2 with 7 seconds left. One faceoff, one missed shot, and one successful put back later we had tied it with 2.6 seconds to go.

MARCO! SCUTARO!

What was the biggest disappointment in sports for you in 2006?

Putting forth such a lousy showing in the ALCS.

If you could take back any decision that any of your teams made in 2006, what would it be?

Giving Mike Dunleavy an extension. That was 06 right? Well that was disasterous enough to cover 05, 06, and 07 and 08 for good measure too. So yeah, Mike Dunleavy's extension.

Got any predictions for 2007 that you think people would be quick to dismiss?

The Golden State Warriors will make the NBA Playoffs.

Who am I kidding I'm quick to dismiss that myself.
